Geoff C. Harris

For well over 40 years, Geoff Harris has helped direct improvement programs in all aspects of quarry operations, from automation and equipment upgrades to quality management and community relations that have contributed to changing the face of the U.S. aggregates industry.  Harris spent most of his career with Sydney, Australia-based CSR, and was an early leader in the foreign invasion. CSR tapped Harris to move to South Carolina to manage what would be the first of many CSR acquisitions in the United States.  He became president of American Aggregates when CSR bought the company in 1990.  In 1997, Martin Marietta Aggregates acquired American Aggregates where Harris assumed the role of President of Martin Marietta's Mid America Division.  Harris believes strongly in a team approach. "It is fundamentally having the work force totally involved, whether it's at the plant, administration or sales function," he said. "One of the best ways to do that is to give them measures they can relate to and communicate back to them how they are doing against those measures and then rewarding them for it.  Geoff presently provides independent management consulting, business development and process design services internationally.  His offices are located near Cincinnati Ohio and can be reached at harrisminequipment@yahoo.com
